An Evening of Legacy and Light: De Beers’ “A Diamond Is Forever” Launch in London
UKICC joins industry leaders at Maison Assouline to celebrate De Beers’ cultural legacy, craftsmanship, and commitment to global communities.
Congratulations to De Beers Group for hosting an exceptional evening on 18th March at Maison Assouline in Piccadilly, London. Well done to Al Cook, Chief Executive Officer, and Shweta Harit for curating an exceptional launch of A Diamond Is Forever: The Making of a Cultural Icon in collaboration with Assouline.
Dr R. Sri Ram, Founder, CEO, and Chair of the UK-India Creative Circle (UKICC), was honoured to be in attendance alongside a distinguished group of global tastemakers, ambassadors, and industry leaders. The event brought together voices from across fashion, film, art, and business—reflecting the far-reaching cultural influence of De Beers since its founding in 1888.
Set within the intimate surroundings of Maison Assouline, the evening marked the launch of a beautifully crafted 240-page publication while celebrating over a century of De Beers’ storytelling—from the iconic 1947 slogan “A Diamond Is Forever” to its lasting influence on global culture. A highlight of the night was the unveiling of the Jwaneng 28.88 diamond, a 28.88-carat, internally flawless, D-colour stone from Botswana, symbolising exceptional natural beauty, rarity, and provenance ahead of its upcoming auction.

What resonated most strongly with UKICC was De Beers’ continued commitment to the communities in which its diamonds are made—from Botswana to India. This focus on responsible sourcing, long-term partnerships, and sustainable impact closely aligns with UKICC’s mission to strengthen meaningful connections between the UK and India, particularly across the gems, jewellery, and creative industries.
The evening was not only a celebration of heritage and craftsmanship, but also of collaboration and shared purpose. It was a pleasure to be in the room with the individuals and teams who have contributed to building De Beers into a truly global cultural icon.
UKICC looks forward to continuing to engage with partners across industries to foster dialogue, innovation, and cross-border collaboration.
