London Business School India Club | Shri Piyush Goyal | UKICC
On Friday 26th June 2026 London Business School India Club and the India Alumni Club hosted an INDSPIRES lecture series event, featuring a fireside chat with Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal.
Coming so soon after the landmark announcement of the UK–India Free Trade Agreement, due to be implemented on 15 July 2026, the discussion could not have been more timely.
It was a privilege for UKICC to be featured during this event at London Business School alongside Dean Sergei Guriev, Indian High Commissioner to the UK His Excellency Periasamy Kumaran, students, alumni, and distinguished guests.
Minister Goyal shared valuable insights into his academic journey, public service, and the Indian Government’s long-term vision for economic growth and national development. His reflections highlighted the scale and ambition of India’s transformation—from modernising infrastructure and electrifying railway networks, to embracing AI and digital innovation, expanding financial inclusion, and creating opportunities for citizens across the country.
“It was also an honour to showcase the work of the UK India Creative Circle (UKICC) as we celebrate our first anniversary, highlighting the growing importance of creative sector collaboration between the UK and India. As I prepare to give you my closing remarks, I do this with a mindset about opening doors, for the creative sectors across the UK and India. Our mission at UKICC is to have your support as the Government of India at this exciting moment when the creative industries are set to grow for both economies” said Dr R. Sri Ram, Founder & Executive Chair of UK-India Creative Circle.
Also in the audience was the UKICC community and advisory board member Rupert Daniels, Director of Services, UK Department of Business & Trade.
Congratulations once again to everyone involved in delivering such a thoughtful and impactful event.
