UKICC x Country & Town House Great British Breakfast
On 4th December 2025, UK India Creative Circle (UKICC), and Country Town & House, co-hosted The Great British Brands Breakfast Club: “Opportunities to Cater & Enter the Indian Market.”
Held at the elegant Home-Grown private members club in London, business leaders from British brands gathered to hear a fireside chat between Lucy Cleland, Editorial Director of Country & Town House and Dr. R. Sri Ram – Chair and Founder of UKICC on the dynamic growth opportunities that the Indian market has for British businesses.
The session offered a vibrant space for brands to connect, share insights, and better understand how to successfully position themselves in India’s rapidly evolving luxury landscape.
Dr Sri Ram provided essential context on navigating cultural expectations, market behaviour, and strategic brand entry into India with Lucy Cleland sharing insights into how Indian consumers are engaging with British lifestyle, culture, and craftsmanship through media and digital storytelling.
“India is among the world’s fastest-growing major economies, with annual growth rates of around 6–7%, compared to 1–2% in the UK and many EU economies. India will add approximately 70 million new urban residents between 2025–2030 and so the demand for design and lifestyle is sure to increase” Dr Sri Ram said.

For British brands the opportunities, if executed properly are compelling.
“India is not just a large market; it is a fast-maturing luxury and creative economy. India’s luxury buyers are digital, affluent, and globally influenced and with over 850 million internet users the opportunities to penetrate into the rising middle class is very exciting. UK creative industries have a unique heritage advantage in the Indian mindset so there is an opportunity for true collaboration to occur” said Lucy Cleland.
Together Lucy Cleland, and Dr Sri explored the key considerations for British brands—from understanding regional differences and customer preferences to identifying the right retail models and partnerships.
The curated selection of fine British brands, included OKA, Sanderson Group, Edward Bulmer Paint, Lisa Franklin, Alexandra Llewellyn, Native Land, The Home House Group, Turnbull & Asser, Taylor Howes Designs and more.
With India poised for significant growth across luxury, lifestyle, design, and real estate sectors, the potential for British brands is tangible. Today’s session highlighted how critical shared knowledge and cross-cultural understanding are for building meaningful and successful market entry strategies.
